On Deck: Bei Maejor – Upscale

Detroit native Bei Maejor is not one to sleep on right now. Having been in the industry since 2003, his presence has not been felt as thoroughly as it should be. But 2012 seems full of potential at the moment. He recently let go of his self-produced fourth mixtape Upscale, which features Mike Posner and Bear. The listen is smooth, relatable and most of all entertaining. Maejor shows off his versatility in production and his skill as a song-writer; his ability to blend a sultry melody with a quick lyrical delivery is impressive and refreshing to hear. He can go from a crooning romantic as in “Exitlude” to a club regular as showcased in “Fitness”. Named one of Rap-up’s Top 10 artists to watch out for in 2012, it is very easy to see why. The man is talented with a unique style of writing and an ear for the catchy but yet not pop-y records.RnB is on the rise again and Bei Maejor can be a major addition to the up and coming progressive sound we’re all beginning to love. You can download the EP here.Check out the video to his single “The Truth” below.
